FRANCESCO MAMMOLA, mandolinist, was born in Pescocostanzo in 1989. Considered an enfant prodige, during his childhood he obtained important appreciations and high esteem from the music critics. Further to his studies with Maestro Fabio Giudice, he graduated cum laude and honourable mention at “A. Casella” Conservatory in L’Aquila. Among his several national and international appreciations, it stands out: the achievement of the prestigious National Prize of Arts “Claudio Abbado”, the award of the bronze medal of the Senate of the Republic and the Academic Palm from the International Cultural Academy “S. Giovanni Crisostomo” for his high artistic worth. In February 2018 he was included by the German web site Mandoisland among the best classical mandolinists in the world.
In May 2022 he performed a concert at the Quirinale in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and the President of the Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune. In December 2021 he became Professor of the "A.Casella" Conservatory of L'Aquila in the Mandolin Tradition Class, becoming one of the youngest professor in Europe.During his career he performed in USA, England, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Vatican City and on the most important Italian stages for hundreds of concerts, especially as soloist. The concerts given in New York, Boston Bruxelles, Vilnius, Berlin, London, Antwerpen, Chaleroi, Plunge, Mons and also Naples, Rome and Milan are noteworthy, in prestigious locations like the Vatican Museums, Expo 2015, the Institute of Italian Culture in London, the Museum of Rome in Navona Square, the Iraq Embassy at the Holy See, Castel dell’Ovo (for maison Dolce&Gabbana’s thirthieth anniversary), the Lithuanian Art Museum and innumerable theatres and auditoriums all over Italy.
In November 2017 he played for the world premiere, in Vilnius, “Tombik”, the concert for mandolin and string quartet, dedicated to him and written by the Turkish composer Ilkaj Bora Oder.
In the classical field, he collaborates, especially as soloist, with the National Lithuanian Philarmonic, Quartetto Ciurlonis, the National Orchestra of Belgium, Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Solisti Aquilani, the Ensemble Benedetto Marcello and many other groups.
In the pop and jazz field, he collaborates with the tenor Piero Mazzocchetti, the violinist Alessandro Quarta, “Nomadi” band, the singers Mauro Mengali (O.R.O) and Antonella Bucci, the Rai actor Enzo Garramone and the jazz pianist Michele di Toro.
He recorded pieces for RAI, SKY, LRT programs.
His recording "Anema e Core" whit Alfonso Brandi in October 2022; “Vi presento il mandolino”, Crossover Academy Editions, recorded with his trio, came out in December 2017.
Together with Quintetto a Pizzico Aquilano, he made two CDs “Quintetto a pizzico Aquilano (in May 2013) and “Il Quintetto a Pizzico Aquilano suona Mario Giusti” (in January 2014).
He attended Masterclasses with the music professors Ugo Orlandi, Fabio Menditto and Vincent Beer Demander.
